APRIL 13, 2024 PLEIN AIR EVENT In Historic Downtown Smithfield and Isle of Wight County Open to All Artists $10 fee to participate It is an all-day paint out in our small town and surrounding county. We have historic houses, churches, agricultural fields, marshes and marinas for your sketching and painting pleasure. Use our classroom as your base of operations during the day and display your completed paintings in the arts center as you return to the field to paint more!
Begin the day at the arts center between 8 to 10 am to have your canvases, boards or paper stamped and pick up your goodie bag. Participants may register and pay in advance, download the entry form found below and mail it with your check payable to the Arts Center @ 319. Pay online using the PayPal link below and emailing the entry form. Participants may also register the day of the event at the arts center.
A small number of participants, 21 years or older, will be allowed to paint at the Wine Festival taking place at Windsor Castle Park on April 13th. Only the artists selected in advance can access the festival area around the manor house and barns. Please apply early and indicate on your entry form if you would like to paint at the festival. You will be informed in advance if you have been selected. There are other sections of the park that will remain open to the public.
You may sell your wet paintings during the event however, you may not bring previously completed works to sell. The arts center will be prepared to display “wet paintings” during the day and, with your permission, may complete sales of your work per executed sales agreement.
At the end of the day, gather at the arts center for refreshments from 5 pm to 6:30 pm and view your fellow artists’ work. In May our gallery exhibit is "Location, Location, Location", a show and sale of scenes of our Southside area, giving you another opportunity to sell your paintings from this event. Interested in consigning work in our gift shop? Artists wishing to sell items in the gift shop of the Arts Center @319 may submit no more than three (3) items to our jury for consideration on or before the first Monday of each month for 2-D and second Monday for 3-D. Artists will be notified of the jury’s decision as soon as feasible. Artists working in more than one uncombined medium, i.e. painting, pottery, jewelry, etc., should submit each medium separately.
Those artists whose artwork as been selected for the gift shop will be required to maintain current membership in the Isle of Wight Arts League, sign a current Gift Shop Agreement and cooperate with the Arts Center’s inventory procedures.
