Classes are held if the minimum number of students specified by the instructor are enrolled; most classes also have a maximum enrollment. We suggest you sign up early.
Class fees are due no later than the first day of class and payable to the Isle of Wight Arts League. Materials fees are included in the class fee unless indicated otherwise in the class description.
Parents / guardians: For safety considerations, you must accompany your child into the Arts Center at the beginning of class and pick up your child from the Center. Children will only be released from the Center to a parent or guardian.
Travel Journal Watercolor Workshop Jan 11, 18 and 25 and February 1, 2020 Saturdays from 10 am-noon Instructor Barbara Lively Mastaglio If you feel your creativity flowing while away from home or regular art classes but can't imagine hauling the supplies in your luggage or your beach bag, a travel journal is the way to go! It requires less bulky gear, less supplies and all the best to capture your travel experiences. Learn to fill a page with complete sketches, thoughtful writings, water colors and beautiful borders too! No experience required. Ages 16+ Space is limited to 15 participants. Cost for Members is $65 for members, $75 for non-members. Supplies list is available when you sign up for the workshop so sign up early and ask Santa for the workshop fees and supplies as holiday gifts!
Vibrant Landscapes February 8, 2020 Saturday 1 pm to 4 pm Instructor: Barbara Lively Mastaglio Enjoy creating your own landscape masterpiece on a 16 x 20 canvas! We'll use acrylic paints and palette knives to give lots of texture. This is a make it and take it 3 hour workshop for students ages 16 and up of all skill levels. Class Fee is $55 members/$65 non-members plus Materials Fee of $14 which covers canvases, paint and the use of all tools provided by instructor. Register by February 6th to reserve your space.
Pastel Drawing January 29 and February 5, 19 and 26, 2020 Wednesdays, 1:00 to 3:30 pm Instructor: Emily Christoff Flowers This class is designed for the student with some background in drawing or painting. Students will learn about the fundamental materials and techniques of working in pastel on a variety of papers, while more experienced students will progress to a new level with individual instruction. The focus of the class will be on materials, techniques, design, subject matter and personal expression. Session 1: Drawing with pastel on Canson tinted pastel paper Session 2: Drawing with pastel over a completed watercolor painting Session 3:Drawing with pastel on textured homemade sanded board Session 4:Drawing with pastel on velour paper Students may work from their own original photographs, still life set ups, drawings or their imagination. Class fee is $140 for members, $150 for non-members. Sign up by January 25th. Materials list available.
Open Paint Studio Tuesdays 10 am to 2 pm Arts Center @ 319 classroom on every Tuesday. Arts League member artists bring in their current projects in various mediums and work without instruction. Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow painters and share tips and personal experiences from your art journeys. Arrive and depart at your convenience. Room comfortably accommodates 8 painters seated at tables.
Self-improvement for 2020 Discover Your Style One-on-one personal sessions with award winning artist Cil Barbour scheduled at your convenience. Begin a painting using your own reference photos or complete a painting with assistance from an experienced artist who can help you put your vision to canvas. Learn exactly what you need to know about techniques, composition and materials. Fee is $15/hour for IWAL members and $25/hour for non-members. Set a schedule that fits you.
