Classes are held if the minimum number of students specified by the instructor are enrolled; most classes also have a maximum enrollment. We suggest you sign up early.
Class fees are due no later than the first day of class and payable to the Isle of Wight Arts League. Materials fees are included in the class fee unless indicated otherwise in the class description.
Parents / guardians: For safety considerations, you must accompany your child into the Arts Center at the beginning of class and pick up your child from the Center. Children will only be released from the Center to a parent or guardian.
For your safety during the COVID-19 outbreak we are requesting students to wear a face mask and observe social distancing during class. The classroom will be cleaned and disinfected before sessions. If you feel unwell or have a fever on the day of class, please contact us by phone and do not attend the session.
Abstract Wildflowers Diptych January 23, 2021 Saturday 10 am to 1 pm Instructor: Barbara Lively Mastaglio Enjoy creating your own masterpiece on two 8 x 10 canvases! We'll use acrylic paints and a variety of tools to give lots of texture. This is a make it and take it 3 hour workshop for students ages 14 and up of all skill levels. Class Fee is $65 members/$75 non-members plus Materials Fee of $12 which covers canvases, paint and the use of all tools provided by instructor. Register by January 22, 2021 to reserve your space. Travel Journal Watercolor Workshop February 6, 13, 20 and 27, 2021 Saturdays from 10am-noon Instructor Barbara Lively Mastaglio
If you feel your creativity flowing while away from home or regular art classes but can't imagine hauling the supplies in your luggage or your beach bag, a travel journal is the way to go! It requires less bulky gear, less supplies and all the best to capture your travel experiences. Learn to fill a page with complete sketches, thoughtful writings, water colors and beautiful borders too! No experience required. Ages 16+ Space is limited to 8 participants. Cost for Members is $65 for members, $75 for non-members. Enroll by February 4th.

Journal of your choosing - must have watercolor paper. 6"x8" size approximately works best Watercolor set – with mixing tray and a brush (I use Windsor & Newton travel pack which is small, but has 14 colors) Watercolor brush round size 6 Sketching pencil and eraser A pen with archival ink - Pigma Micron 01 2 bankers clips or file clips Ruler A small roll of paper towels
Happy Snowman – Alcohol Ink on Ceramic Tile January 31, 2021 Sunday, 2-4pm Instructor: Tammy Burgett Are you wishing for some snow or hoping it will bypass us this year? Either way, creating this Happy Snowman will have you dreaming of that fluffy, white stuff, at lease for the length of this class. Using Alcohol Ink on a 6x6 ceramic tile and incorporating a new technique of lifting the inks with stamps, your Snowman will go home with you ready to be displayed or used as a trivet. Students age 14 and up of all skill levels are welcome in this workshop. Class Fee is $50 members/$60 non-members, plus Materials Fee of $15 which covers the ceramic tile, alcohol inks and all tools used in the class provided by the instructor.
First Robin of Spring – Alcohol Ink on Canvas February 21, 2021 Sunday, 2-5pm Instructor: Tammy Burgett Let’s help Spring along and create our own Robin and hope that the weather cooperates and brings us spring! Using alcohol ink on a specially prepared 8x10 canvas you’ll incorporate two different techniques for working with the inks - wet on wet and dry brush – to create your own masterpiece. Students age 14 and up of all skill levels are welcome in this workshop. Class Fee is $60 members/$70 non-members, plus Materials Fee of $15 which covers the prepared canvas, alcohol inks and all tools used in the class provided by the instructor.
Pet Portraits – Alcohol Ink on Graphix Plastic March 21, 2021, Sunday, 2-5pm Instructor: Tammy Burgett Paint your own pet (bring a picture to work from) or someone else’s. Using Alcohol Ink on a fun, new and forgiving painting surface, we’ll work in a colorful, abstract style to capture the unique expression our furry family members! Open Paint Studio Tuesdays 10 am to 2 pm - POSTPONED Arts Center @ 319 classroom on every Tuesday. Arts League member artists bring in their current projects in various mediums and work without instruction. Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow painters and share tips and personal experiences from your art journeys. Arrive and depart at your convenience. Room comfortably accommodates 8 painters seated at tables.
Self-improvement for 2020 Discover Your Style One-on-one personal sessions with award winning artist Cil Barbour scheduled at your convenience. Begin a painting using your own reference photos or complete a painting with assistance from an experienced artist who can help you put your vision to canvas. Learn exactly what you need to know about techniques, composition and materials. Fee is $15/hour for IWAL members and $25/hour for non-members. Set a schedule that fits you.
