Class fees and Materials fees, if any, are due no later than the 'register by' date included in the class description and payable to the Isle of Wight Arts League. Convenient online payment options for Class Fee and Materials Fees (if any) are included below the class description. IWAL Members Class Fee rate is for Members of the Isle of Wight Arts League, otherwise select Non-members option. Materials fees may also be paid on line using the Materials Fee button.
Parents / guardians: For safety considerations, you must accompany your child into the Arts Center at the beginning of class and pick up your child from the Center. Children will only be released from the Center to a parent or guardian.

Needle Felting – Spring Bunny March 21, 2023, Tuesday 4 to 6 pm Instructor: Sandee Darden Learn to felt using a sharp needle to shape and pack fluffy wool to create a cute bunny mounted on a wood base. Beginner Introduction to Acrylics March 22, 23 and 24, 2023, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 1:00 to 3:00 pm Instructor: Athena A. Rhodes Learn to paint with acrylics on canvas with three consecutive 2-hour sessions. No Experience Necessary! You will learn basic techniques of color mixing, brushwork and more, all suited to the featured painting. This class is for beginning students 16 years old and over. Please register and pay by March 20. Class Fee is $75 for Members, $85 for Non-members plus a Materials fee of $25. All paint, canvas and brushes supplied by instructor. Instructor will provide a color photo reference for students to paint from in class.
Leather Wrap Bracelet March 25, 2023, Saturday 1 to 3 pm Or March 26, 2023, Sunday 1 to 3 pm Instructor: Diane Milner This simple design has been shared online and in classes for several years. It is a great example of a design harkening back to days at summer camp. This is a single wrap bracelet made with leather, seed beads, and a snappy button. Project is ideal for pre-teens to adults. Bracelet will be taught as a single wrap but can be adapted to a double and even a triple wrap. This project is fun, fast, and suitable for a wide range of beads. Home schoolers, looking for a great art project? Mom, looking for a Mother/Daughter class?? This is it!! Students under 10 must have accompanying parent. Portrait Sculpture in Bas Relief April 20, 27 and May 4 and 18, 2023, four Thursdays, 5:30 to 7:30 pm Instructor: Mary LeCompte
Students learn the fundamentals of clay and sculpture while creating a profile portrait from a 2D picture. Bas relief is a low relief like on a coin. No experience required to follow the steps to a work of art you will cherish. This class is for beginning students 16 years old and over. Please register by April 18. Class Fee is $95 for Members, ($105 Non-members) plus a Materials fee of $20. Students may bring their own supplies, a materials list can be provided by email. Students need to bring an 8” x 10” profile picture or photo copy that can be damaged in the art making process. Minimum of 2 students required to hold class, maximum of 8.
Intro to Stained Glass: Copper Foil Method April 23 and April 30, 2023, Sundays 12-3 p.m. Instructor: Heidi Wurm Intro to Stained Glass: Copper Foil Method will teach basic fundamentals of the copper foil method. This technique involves cutting glass, wrapping each piece with an adhesive-backed copper foil tape, and soldering the pieces together to create stained glass panels, suncatchers, boxes, lamps, and more. Students will meet for two, three-hour sessions and complete a suncatcher. All supplies and tools for use during class will be provided. Students 18 years old and up. Class fee is $75 members ($85 for non-members) plus a Materials Fee of $25. Register by March 31st to reserve your space. Maximum 4 students; minimum 2 students required to hold the class.
Spiral Rope Bracelet April 8, 2023, Saturday 1 to 3 pm Or April 13, 2023, Thursday 4 to 6 pm Instructor: Diane Milner This simple pattern is an easy beginner stitch for young and old to master. A project ideal for a home school art project or a day out with Grandma. A needle, beading floss, and a couple of different sized seed beads are all you need to make a stunning bracelet. The bracelet easily converts to a necklace or chain by continuing the stitch. Two different color options will be offered. Great project for an early Mother's Day gift or a lazy afternoon. Camille Bracelet May 11, 2023, Thursday 4 to 6 pm Or May 13, 2023, Saturday 1 to 3 pm Instructor: Diane Milner Let your imagination run wild. This bracelet is made with Kheops par Puca, triangular two-hole beads glass beads from the Czech Republic. Strung together, back-to-back they create a pleasing diamond shaped bracelet. This is an ideal project for teen to adults. Students will be offered a choice of three colors to work with and corresponding crystal pearls and seed beads.
