Classes are held if the minimum number of students specified by the instructor are enrolled; most classes also have a maximum enrollment. We suggest you sign up early. Use the "signup for a class" link above to signup online.
Class fees and Materials fees, if any, are due no later than the 'register by' date included in the class description and payable to the Isle of Wight Arts League. Convenient online payment options for Class Fee and Materials Fees (if any) are included below the class description. IWAL Members Class Fee rate is for Members of the Isle of Wight Arts League, otherwise select Non-members option. Materials fees may also be paid on line using the Materials Fee button.
Parents / guardians: For safety considerations, you must accompany your child into the Arts Center at the beginning of class and pick up your child from the Center. Children will only be released from the Center to a parent or guardian.
If you feel unwell or have a fever on the day of class, please contact us by phone and do not attend the session. Your class fees will be applied to a future class or refunded.
March Intermediate Painting with Acrylics
March 11, 12 and 13, 2026 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 1 to 3 PM Instructor: Athena A. Rhodes Learn to paint with acrylics on canvas with three consecutive 2-hour sessions. No Experience Necessary! You will learn basic techniques of color mixing, brushwork and more, all suited to the featured painting. Build on skills learned in each class. Instructor supplied materials include brushes, paint and canvas.
Class Fee is $75 for Members ($85 for Non-members) plus a Materials fee of $25.

Tradition With A Twist March 21, 2026 Saturday 1 to 4 pm Instructor: Sandy Waters Take an old piece of artwork (acrylic, watercolor, fine art print, etc) you can find at the thrift store and turn it into something completely different and unique! Students should bring to class an old acrylic painting, print or watercolor to be transformed, plus any papers, paint and items that can be used to enhance the piece and a frame with hanging hardware for the completed piece. This workshop is offered in preparation for the “Tradition with a Twist” fundraising event April 1-26, 2026 for the Arts Center @ 319. (We hope students will consider donating their new creation to this exhibit.) Class Fee is $15 for Members ($25 for non-members) plus a $10 Materials fee. A minimum of 3 students is needed for the class, the maximum number of students is 10. Register by Thursday, March 19 to reserve a space in the class.
Absolutely Beginner Painting with Acrylics March 25, 26 and 27, 2026 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 1 to 3 PM Instructor: Athena A. Rhodes Have you ever wanted to paint but didn’t know where to start? This 3-day beginner-friendly acrylic painting class is perfect for you! ✨ No experience necessary – even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush before. ✨ Step-by-step guidance in a fun, relaxed setting. ✨ Learn the basics of acrylics, color mixing, brush techniques, and composition. ✨ Complete your very own finished painting to take home and be proud of. By the end of this class, you’ll not only have a beautiful painting, but also the confidence and skills to keep creating. Instructor supplied materials include brushes, paint and canvas. PainTEAng: Painting with Tea March 28, 2026, Saturday 1-3pm Instructor: Alexis Jones This is a fun unique one of a kind class. In this class, you will learn how to use tea leaves to create abstract patterns and textures. Similar to watercolor, this is a loose medium that offers freedom in expression. We will also explore other mediums and techniques that complement the texture of the tea. Great class for Beginners. Class Fee is $35 for Members ($45 for Non-members) plus a Materials fee of $20. Sketchbook Sessions: Beginner Class April 11, 2026, Saturday 1-3pm Instructor: Alexis Jones Are you interested in keeping a sketchbook but don’t know where to start? This class is for you! We will be going over some fun techniques to use in your sketchbook and some ways to conquer the fear of starting. You will leave with a sketchbook and some simple materials to continue your journey outside of this beginner class. Class Fee is $25 for Members ($35 for Non-members) plus a Materials fee of $20.
