Classes are held if the minimum number of students specified by the instructor are enrolled; most classes also have a maximum enrollment. We suggest you sign up early.
Class fees are due no later than the first day of class and payable to the Isle of Wight Arts League. Materials fees are included in the class fee unless indicated otherwise in the class description.
Parents / guardians: For safety considerations, you must accompany your child into the Arts Center at the beginning of class and pick up your child from the Center. Children will only be released from the Center to a parent or guardian.
COVID-19 Policy: Fully vaccinated persons do not have to wear a face mask in the arts center. For your safety we are requesting unvaccinated students to wear a face mask and observe social distancing during class. If you feel unwell or have a fever on the day of class, please contact us by phone and do not attend the session.
Introduction to Working with Alcohol Ink Instructor: Tammy Burgett - two class times to choose from in July – 2021: Tuesday, July 13, 7 - 9 pm or Sunday, July 18, 3 - 5 pm
Alcohol Ink is a fun, relatively new medium to paint with, but be warned it’s easy to become addicted! After a brief introduction to Alcohol Ink, you’ll learn to manipulate the inks and play with color using cardstock and synthetic paper. Then you’ll create something of your own design on a 6x6 ceramic tile. Students age 12 and up of all skill levels are welcome. Class Fee is $45 members/$55 non-members, plus a Materials Fee of $15. All materials and tools used in the class are provided by the instructor. Wear your “painting clothes” or bring an apron – alcohol inks can be messy!

Enjoy the sunflower display in Windsor Castle Park at your leisure (and take pictures to use in class) then come create your own Sunflower painting with Alcohol Inks on Graphix Plastic (a wonderfully forgiving substrate to work with the inks). Don’t worry if you’ve never painted with Alcohol Inks – we’ll start with an introduction and some practice, then you’ll start creating. Students age 12 and up of all skill levels are welcome. Light Up the Night – Alcohol Ink on recycled Glass Bottle Choose from two classes in September – Tuesday, September 21, 7 - 9 pm or Sunday, September 12, 3 - 5 pm
Enjoy a beautiful fall evening outdoors in style! Using Alcohol Ink on recycled glass bottles you’ll create a mosaic-looking glass lantern you can use indoors or out (with protection from the elements). A variety of different glass bottles will be available to choose from, or if you have a special one you like, please feel free to bring it (labels removed and cleaned inside and out). Students age 12 and up of all skill levels are welcome in this workshop. Class Fee is $45members/$55 non-members, plus a Materials Fee of $15. Open Paint Studio has resumed! Tuesdays 10 am to 2 pm Arts Center @ 319 classroom on every Tuesday. Arts League member artists bring in their current projects in various mediums and work without instruction. Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow painters and share tips and personal experiences from your art journeys. Arrive and depart at your convenience. Room comfortably accommodates 8 painters seated at tables.
Self-improvement for 2021 Discover Your Style One-on-one personal sessions with award winning artist Cil Barbour scheduled at your convenience. Begin a painting using your own reference photos or complete a painting with assistance from an experienced artist who can help you put your vision to canvas. Learn exactly what you need to know about techniques, composition and materials. Fee is $15/hour for IWAL members and $25/hour for non-members. Set a schedule that fits you.
