Classes are held if the minimum number of students specified by the instructor are enrolled; most classes also have a maximum enrollment. We suggest you sign up early.
Class fees are due no later than the first day of class and payable to the Isle of Wight Arts League. Materials fees are included in the class fee unless indicated otherwise in the class description.
Parents / guardians: For safety considerations, you must accompany your child into the Arts Center at the beginning of class and pick up your child from the Center. Children will only be released from the Center to a parent or guardian.
Youth Art Class April 10 and April 24, 2019 Wednesdays 3:30-5:00 pm
Resident artist Diane Greenhalgh teaches fundamental drawing principles, painting and color theory for young artists ages 6 to 12 years. Fee is $40 for members of the Isle of Wight Arts League, $50 for non-members. Each month new projects will be offered to advance students’ skill and knowledge. Jewelry Artist Diane Milner is offering a series of jewelry making workshops designed to provide beginners an opportunity to explore different elements of beading. Each workshop is 3 hours. Student (age 12 or older) will work a small project to reinforce their skills. Use of Tools and supplies are included in workshop fees. Reservations and fees are required one week in advance of scheduled workshop. MAY and JUNE JEWELRY CLASSES: Basic Wire Work, Thurs May 2nd 1-4 pm or Sat May 11th, 10am - 2pm: Includes creating wire loops to hang pendants, charms, and earrings. Students will make 2 pair of earrings. Cost is $20/$30 for non-members.
Jewelry Workshop - Flat Spiral Bracelet, Thurs, May 9th, 1-4 pm: Learn the basics of the flat spiral stich. Project includes the completion of a 7”-8” bracelet with sterling or gold-filled clasp. Cost is $30/$40 for non-members. New Addition
Jewelry Workshop – Traditional Wire Wrapped Cabochon, Thurs, May 16th, 1-4 pm: Create your own pendant. Project includes instruction in the traditional technique for wire encasement of a flat backed stone or fused glass cabochon, using copper square and half-round wire. Cost is $35/$45 for non-members.
Basic Stitching, Thurs, May 30th or Sun, Jun 2nd, 1-4 pm: Explore the different types of seed beads, tools, patterns available to designers. Students will weave a bracelet using the spiral stitch. Cost is $20/$30 for non-members.
Pearl Knotting, Thursday June 6th or Sat., June 8th, 1-4 pm: Learn a basic hand-knotted technique for stringing or restringing pearls. Project includes the completion of a 7"-8" knotted bracelet using fresh water pearls, bead tips and a sterling or gold-filled lobster clasp. Cost is $35 for members or $45 for non-members. Playing with knives and paint! What could be a better way to wind down your week or begin your weekend? This is a make it and take it workshop using palette knives and oil paints. We'll complete our paintings in just 3 hours. Nothing to bring just register early and arrive ready to enjoy your afternoon. This class is for students 21 and up, NO experience necessary. COLD WAX PAINTING WORKSHOP May 18, 2019 SATURDAY 10 am to 3 PM
Artist Nancy Stutts provides instruction in this versatile medium for representational or abstract painting styles. Class Fee is $50 for IWAL members, $60 non-members plus a materials fee of $50 for wax, scrapers, panels and paper for each student. Participants are to bring oil paints that they may have, but some paints will be provided. Bring an apron. There will be a short break for lunch. You must register and pay by May 10.
